Pendahuluan Ikan yang masih sekerabat dengan ikan mas ini populer sebagai bahan pangan kelas tinggi, dan yang biasa dijumpai dan dikonsumsi di Indonesia dan Malaysia. Ikan ini hidup di sungai-sungai beraliran deras di pegunungan dan populasi sangat terancam akibat penangkapan berlebihan. Ikan torsoro ( Tor soro ) merupakan spesies endemik di kawasan Danau Toba, serta merupakan ikan lokal asli Indonesia sehingga keberadaannya harus terus dilestarikan (Kristanto, 2005). Ikan torsoro termasuk ikan yang memiliki nilai ekonomis tinggi.
